Deviation Actions

I am writing this because I am receiving continued questions about how this group will accomplish it's goal and I felt that, rather than writing a dozen responses to what is essentially the same question, which would have taken up far more time, that I would write the answer in this journal instead. For those of you who read the group notes, this is also an exact copy of what was in the most recent edition of the note I have sent to all members detailing what is coming up next in the group's calendar; as well as the overall mission of the group and what it involves:

On valentines day, we are going to unleash an explosion of good deeds and acts of kindness to finalize the launch of Infectious Kindness. This will be both a publicity stunt, and a way to get our group started with a bang. I have started a count-down on the group page, and when it runs out, we will seek out deviants who have few watchers, and watch them. We'll look for deviants who are ranting about having a hard time, and cheer them up with kind words of support and encouragement. Every fave, watch, critique, kind word, comment, gift, and art trade is a good deed that will make someone's day! I would encourage all of you to start looking for deviants who may be having a difficult time early on, and if you are able to draw or do pixel/digital art, draw something for a random deviant who is struggling, and give it to them on valentines day with a few kind words of encouragement; it does not have to be complex, just something kind that they will not expect at all. If you can write, write something for a random deviant who is having a tough time, a short poem, a brief story, anything as long as the message is uplifting and positive. Basically spread kindness and compassion as far and wide as you are able to. I am not comfortable asking you to give points or PM's because that would be your hard-earned money being given, but if you have a desire to do that, I encourage you to do so. This will be a bit like a secret Santa operation.

However, in the time leading up to valentines day, we will mostly be focusing on swelling our ranks. Spread the word and invite everyone you know who would be interested in a better, brighter deviant art. This is just one way to let people know about our mission.

Another way to get the word out there is by doing a daily deed, or selfless act of kindness to a random deviant. It can be anyone. This is the number one main purpose of this group. Back in the day, DA had a warmth, and a welcoming atmosphere to it that it has slowly lost. With the rapid increase of trolls, hackers, and art thieves, Deviant-Art has become cold, and shallow. If we don't want Deviant-art to get worse, we need to actually put forth effort towards making it better! And I firmly believe that the best way to do that is to do the exact opposite of what trolls and art thieves do. Instead of putting people down and grinding other artists' work into the dust, we should encourage the artists out there who are struggling! Instead of stealing art, we should give faves, watches, supportive comments, critiques, mentions, and anything else that you can think of to people who are suffering with the belief that nobody appreciates them or their work! If we work at this, I am confident that DA will begin to heal, and quite possibly, it will surpass its former glory and become better than it ever was!
